Integrating TOK across DP subjects

Date: October 5, 2021 ‘How do you know that?’ This is the central question that served as an anchor in last week’s workshop, where a group of highly motivated IB Diploma teachers were provided with opportunities to familiarise themselves with the nature of the IB Theory Of Knowledge (TOK) course. At the same time, they also worked both collaboratively and independently how to integrate TOK elements into their own subject units, in order to foster their students’ critical thinking skills. By having to examine knowledge claims and link them to knowledge questions, participants were challenged to examine their own knowledge acquisition process and consider how reliable and certain their perceived knowledge is.

Sharing snapshot of participants feedback: It was a fantastic experience. The workshop was engaging, and the content delivery was outstanding. The workshop leader ensured a positive atmosphere where all participants contributed and asked questions.

I simply can say, Amazing Experience! I attended a TOK course for the first time and have never been involved with this. This course gave in the skills required to facilitate my students in this area. The course leader had a ton of experience and ensured that the attendees understood the concept and developed this via collaborative tasks. Very helpful! Highly recommended.

It was truly an enjoyable learning experience to be a part of the workshop. I really appreciate the way it was planned and executed. It has definitely added a lot to my experiences of teaching TOK and delivering it, especially in the new curriculum. The activities done was really compact and effective triggering us to inquire about our teaching strategies as a teacher and reflect on them.

The TOK workshop was an enriching collaborative experience. Even at the end of a working day, the synchronous tasks were well planned and spaced out. This workshop has definitely left me with a much better understanding of the TOK process for both, students and teachers.
