Assessment: Why, When, What, How?

Workshop Overview

We have all heard tests are bad, especially over testing and when all learning is driven by tests. But what about assessment? Assessment literally means to sit beside and that is how we will approach this workshop. We will engage with the latest developments in educational assessment, its purpose and characteristics. Participants will better understand where assessment fits into their practice, how testing and assessment are related and how to plan and execute meaningful assessments. The workshop will explore assessment tools and strategies from Alfie Kohn, Dylan Williams and other cutting edge practitioners. We will strengthen your assessment capabilities by creating authentic assessment tasks and rubrics that will give us the data to inform decision-making for learning and teaching.
