Designing, planning, & assessing for inquiry

Workshop Overview

Designing, Planning and Assessing for Inquiry identifies, explores and sets the course for best practices regarding introducing inquiry into a professional learning community, school and classroom.

Throughout the workshop, educators will have the opportunity to understand various inquiry processes and their value and function in support of teaching and learning. We will connect research with practical protocols for planning for teacher guided, student-led and emerging inquiries and inquiry based projects. We will also delve into ways of observing, evidencing, measuring and reporting on inquiry and the impact of those processes on teaching and learning.

On day 1, educators will look at the inquiry and design processes and their function and value in the classrooms. Day 2 will offer experiences through which educators will build their individual planning embracing practical implementation of inquiry in any curricular setting. In the final session, we will consolidate how each of the inquiry or inquiry-based processes can incorporate elements of assessment as learning (by design) and inform our teaching and learning.
