Principals, teachers and coordinators from schools in India and China explored the Approaches to teaching and learning course with Malcolm Nicolson. Over the course of six synchronous and four asynchronous hours participants dived into approaches to teaching, collaborative inquiry leading to the design and peer evaluation of inquiries based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The experience was a model of what IB learning is all about – social, rigorous, meaningful and lots of fun!
“The workshop was very engaging and stimulating; it provided clarity and direction. The course leader shared some deliberate strategies and skills that can positively impact teaching and learning creating an inquiry based classroom. The learning largely took place through pre reading, sharing, collaboration and with the course leader guiding us rather than just sharing information.”
Deborah Singh, The British School New Delhi
“The sessions in the online ATL course were enriching. A lot of online courses fail because of lack of engagement, the course leader made it interactive and interesting. The inquiry based approach made me think about my own work and participate in discussions.”
Kamala R, Akshar Arbol International School, Chennai
“The three day ‘Approaches to Teaching and Learning’ course was an enlightening experience. Right from the beginning, from pre-course reading materials, assignments, group discussions, breakout sessions and activities were meticulously planned and executed, it didn’t feel as if we were not together at one physical venue. A truly enriching course indeed. Looking forward to more stimulating courses.”
Dr. Leena Pimpley, Independent Consultant, Mumbai
“It was an enriching experience with lot of learning about ATL and ATT. It was interesting to get an insight into concept based teaching and inquiry based teaching. Excited to apply these to my classes this year.”
