Inquiry and Numeracy, Sanskriti The Gurukul, Guwahati

Date: December 18, 2022 Numeracy has always been one of the key elements of making sense of the world. The knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes we develop in our learners have an immediate and lasting impact on how they will use mathematics to make sense of this world. Our approach determines whether they will use it with skill and curiosity or dread it. The aims of this workshop experience were, to inspire, educate and empower all teachers to use the latest research-based strategies; to use inquiry-based practices in classrooms to form healthy mathematical habits and to develop practices that engage children in rich, learner-centred visual and creative learning experiences. We started them on this journey of asking questions, wondering and discovering which they will continue in their classrooms and continue to nurture the curiosity in their children leading to deeper learning.

Sharing snapshots of participants feedback:

I would like to say that the workshop was a really engaging one. I (especially) opened up and explored a lot during this interactive session. I picked up some really interesting terms which are related to numeracy and mathematics. Otherwise, I never thought that these terms could be related to mathematics and numeracy. I extend my heartiest thanks to you and your team for organizing such a great workshop. Indrani Das

I am glad that I could be a part of this workshop. It’s been a great learning experience for me with a variety of takeaways. It has helped me to reflect on my approach as an educator, primarily while initiating a topic in the classroom. It has aided me to get new perspectives towards both math and numeracy. To sum it up, Math is everywhere, integrating the world around us with concepts and facts. Chandana Borah

It has been the most engaging workshop. I have had an enriching experience understanding in depth about Numeracy and Mathematics. Thank you for making it so interesting and guiding us to make learning fun for children. Loreen G. Momin
