The purpose of this training was to experience the IB pedagogy so that they can embark on their IB journey with more confidence enabling them to implement the IB pedagogy in their classrooms. Through a combination of asynchronous and synchronous sessions, we explored the essential elements of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). We unfolded the IB core and the concepts that drive the IB programme with a flipped classroom model – prompting questions and interactions. Prior reading helped participants frame their thinking and questions in readiness to the live sessions.
Some of the key takeaways from the PYP course were the basic underpinnings of the primary years programme- transdisciplinary and conceptual learning, Inquiry as a pedagogy, student agency, reflections, International mindedness, collaborative learning and assessment.
The Diploma Programme course allowed participants to familiarise themselves with the structure of the IB Diploma programme (IBDP). They learnt how the successful integration of IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) are at the heart of IBDP unit planning. Apart from having the opportunity to create a sample unit plan themselves, participants also learned how to connect the DP Core components (TOK, EE, CAS) with subject-specific content, as well as how to integrate both formative and summative assessment tasks into the learning process.”
Snapshot of participant reviews:
Thank you for a great course. Great presentation style with lots of opportunities to ask questions and talk about real-life examples. The content is well organised and focused on practical situations in a Diploma programme. I particularly enjoyed the bits of collaborative group activities. I feel better equipped to manage my understanding of IBDP after completing the course. This was my objective at the beginning. The course as a whole was very good. The examples, the printed materials, and the instruction were all excellent. All the instructors were great resource persons who gave amazing insights during the course and cleared all doubts. I enjoyed the course and learned a lot from it.

A well rounded extensive programme for teachers new to the IB. It is both versatile, yet focused in addressing all the parameters encompassing the IB paradigm. Incorporating a good blend of diverse resources and team tasks , this programme captures the essence of the IBDP from its roots. It leaves us with the paradox of being fulfilled, and yet thirsty for more. Looking forward to further our learning through an advanced DP course,

This course was a window into a whole new way of teaching and learning! It is a well-structured programme that made possible new learnings and insightful discussions. Priyamvada, Margaret, and Urs left no stone unturned to ensure that each participant’s learning was interesting and permanent. The synchronous and asynchronous sessions together provided me with a thorough understanding of the IBDP framework, and left me wanting to know more!

This programme was very well designed. With each passing session, my understanding deepened and I could make connections with the pre-readings and the home learning. Each task in between the session was positively engaging. PYP is all play-way is a myth. The design of the lessons is so detailed that one’s class cannot go haywire. The transition from ‘wonders’ and the ‘not sure’ to ‘aha moments’ was very smooth. I would definitely recommend this programme to the educators who want to bring in happy changes to the classroom and make a difference.

As a teacher, I was feeling complacent in the chrysalis that had, for over a decade, seldom stimulated me to focus on anything but teaching. I was self-driven to venture out of this mould and be inspired. In the quagmire of confusion, I came across this programme which helped me delve into the world of International Curriculum, the International Baccalaureate to be specific. The first day of the session set the tone for the entire workshop; we knew as educators that the time to unlearn and learn had come. Our nescience was acknowledged, our doubts were quelled and it was back to school again with the zeal to know more, to be more! Ms. Richardson, Mr. Jungo, and Ms. Taneja were always there to encourage us, and most importantly, to reiterate that it is never late for anyone to start again, even if it means in the middle!!
