Learning Focused Leadership

Date: October 26, 2021 What is learning? Why is it important that schools are consistent in their understanding of what kind of learning they value? The Learning Focused Leadership Course did a deep dive into into developing school structures, systems and practices that support teaching and learning in classrooms. Over a course of a week the participants looked at how they can support and enhance teacher quality and use research to improve student learning. The course also explored how we navigate change and empower teachers to meet the evolving needs of the students.

Here is what the participants have to say about the course:

This course is a great amalgamation of what is learning and different types of learning. Many courses offer what is a great learning but this course offered what does a great teacher looks like.

The ‘Learning Focused Leadership’ course was a thought-provoking and insightful experience for me. Understanding the teaching-learning process from the perspective of emerging findings in neuroscience and neuropsychology has been enriching. Motivated, positive, and stimulating discussions regarding developing learning-centred structures, systems, and practices will hold me in good stead as an educator. The best part of attending the course was the curiosity and drive to not only learn more but also put the same into practice that it left me with.

The Learning Focused Leadership workshop is highly recommended! It helped me contextualise my learning with the help of relevant and up to date research on metacognition, learning, and approaches to leadership as a humanist model. The workshop was structured in a way that involved discussions between peers and the course leader, allowing for a more personalised experience.
