Primary Years workshop: Unpack, reconstruct, apply: Learners International School

Date: February 10, 2022 The Primary years workshop for Learners International School was aimed at empowering teachers new to the PYP programme. This workshop familiarised the participants with the philosophy, the terminology and practices of the PYP. Participants had the opportunity to learn about best practices, review related documents and apply the knowledge and skills through practical learning engagements throughout the workshop. Participating in synchronous and asynchronous sessions, they worked with peers through collaborative group engagements and reflected on their work through feedback and feedforward. At the end of the workshop, they confidently engaged with the curriculum and will begin to implement what they have learnt throughout the workshop in their classrooms.

Sharing snippets of participants’ feedback:

PYP workshop was too good. I liked the overall design of the workshop which was so helpful in learning PYP curriculum. We were fortunate to be part of this workshop. Thank you – Priyamvada Taneja Consulting.

Being a part of the PYP workshops has been a meaningful and enriching experience for me. I have been able to construct a better understanding of the inquiry cycle for myself through the sessions. I feel more equipped to be able to apply my learnings in the unit plans and in the classroom with my learners.

I liked the way you have designed the entire workshop. Well encapsulated sessions for the starters. The interaction really helped to build a good foundation of my knowledge of PYP framework.

The workshop gave me a better understanding on what exactly is PYP under IB board. The transdisciplinary themes were very well explained. Group work helped me in understanding how to apply the same in our units. The pre-reading was a big help.

The workshop on Primary Years Programme was highly engaging and thought provoking. It gave an invaluable insight into the attributes of the learner profile and the approaches to learning (ATL) that provide the foundational skills and dispositions for the development of international-mindedness.
