This hands-on workshop bridges the gap between cognitive science and daily classroom practice. It provides you with practical, high-impact strategies to transform your students into expressive, highly analytical readers.
Over the course of 3 days, you will explore:
Session 1: The Foundations of Reading Comprehension
Delve into how the reading brain works. You will learn how to quickly audit classroom texts to extract and explicitly teach high-impact vocabulary, whilst designing smart entry-point activities that activate pupils’ background knowledge before they even begin reading.Session 2: Mastery of Reading Fluency
Explore fluency as the vital, missing link to comprehension. This highly practical session focuses on oral expression and pacing. You will master concrete classroom routines—such as echo reading, choral reading, and phrase-cued text tracking—that free up childrens’ working memory so they can focus on meaning.Session 3: Active Comprehension Strategies & Scaffolding
Learn how to make internal reading paths visible. You will practice scripting live teacher “think-alouds” to model metacognition, refine your reading questions and build smart scaffolds (like graphic organisers and sentence stems) that keep text expectations high for every learner.Classroom Impact
Every session includes a practical interactive planning segment and a small, actionable classroom “gap task.” You will leave each workshop not with a to-do list, but with some fully planned lessons and activities, ready-to-use templates, and collaborative routines to try out with your class immediately.Fees:
